The Creole Nature Trail is one of the most scenic road trips in Louisiana. This 180-mile All-American Road will take you through some of the most incredible parts of southwestern Louisiana, stopping off at wonderful waterways and charming small towns until you reach the Gulf of Mexico…and that’s just when the fun begins. Gas up the car and throw on your favorite playlist, here’s what you can look forward to when you embark on this epic road trip in Louisiana:
You can start your road trip anywhere on the trail, but we’d recommend beginning your journey at Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point.
There are plenty of spots to do a little fishing, either from docks and piers or you can bring your boat and launch it at one of the boat launches along the way.
Here, you'll find Wetland Walkway, a lovely, little kid-friendly boardwalk trail over the marsh. Depending on the time of year you visit, you may even spot an alligator or two!
When you reach the Gulf of Mexico, you'll feel like you've been transported to a tropical island.
Both Holly Beach and Rutherford Beach are stops along the trail, and they're great for casual beach strolls and sunset views. Both beaches are great for finding seashells, too, so keep your eyes peeled for a unique souvenir to take home!
