A Charming And Historic Small Town In Louisiana, Olde Towne Slidell Is Seemingly Frozen In Time
By most standards, Slidell, Louisiana is not considered a small town. With a population that hovers around 30,000, Slidell is one of those little-big cities that is really the best of both worlds. If you really want to enjoy the sights and sounds of Camellia City, then make your way over Olde Towne Slidell where things still move at a slower pace and it gives off that small-town charm that we love so much.

Here, you can learn all about how the town flourished after the railroad came to town, the history of the town, and so much more. The Slidell Mardi Gras Museum is also within the same building, so be sure to save enough time so you can check out both.

KY’s Olde Towne Bicycle Shop Restaurant is one of my favorites. The century-old building has seen many businesses come and go over the years, including a bicycle shop. The restaurant pays homage to the building's history just about everywhere you look, including the ceiling which has several antique bicycles hanging from it.

Fishing and biking are popular, but there's also a playground for the young ones as well as plenty of benches and picnic tables scattered around to sit for a spell and take in the view.

The nostalgic soda shop is as old-fashioned as it gets. Sundaes, banana splits, milkshakes and more all serves in antique glassware that you just don't see anymore. This soda shop also has some savory bites, too, so if you're craving chili cheese fries, they've got you covered.

Mother Nature has been known to put on quite the show from here!
While you’re in Slidell, consider taking a tour of the Honey Island Swamp, one of the most pristine river swamps in the country! Don’t forget to pack some snacks for the road.
