These Louisiana State Parks May Be Tiny, But They've Got Some Mighty Views
Louisiana has 21 state parks peppered throughout the state, and each one is worthy of a visit. Sure, there are the bigger state parks like Chicot State Park (6,400 acres), Lake Fausse Pointe State Park (6,000 acres), and Fontainebleau State Park (2,800 acres), but bigger doesn’t always mean better! These five Louisiana state parks may be tiny, but they don’t compromise when it comes to scenery. Let’s show some love to the tiny but mighty state parks in the Pelican State, shall we?

Kicking it off in northern Louisiana, Jimmie Davis State Park clocks in at 284 acres, making it the fifth-smallest state park in the state. Established in 1966, the cool, refreshing waters of Caney Lake have attracted fishermen and waterskiiers for years.

Down south we go, over to St. Mary Parish where Cypremort Point State Park is located. Nestled along the shores of Vermilion Bay, this lovely 185-acre park is ideal for sailing, swimming, and, of course, fishing. The half-mile stretch of man-made beach is the perfect spot to soak up some rays and watch the sunset.

Want a beach vacation without leaving the state? Then make your way over to Grand Isle State Park. With 140 acres to explore and some of the best birdwatching in Louisiana, it's easy to fall in love with the scenery here.

If you're around St. Tammany Parish, a visit to this little park is a must. Fairview-Riverside is only 98 acres, but don't let that deter you! The views of the Tchefuncte River are unparalleled, and history lovers will enjoy getting to tour the Otis House Museum, a restored home that was built in the 1880s as a family home when the property functioned as a sawmill.

Rounding out our list is Lake Bruin State Park, the smallest state park in Louisiana. At only 53 acres, this Tensas Parish park certainly packs a punch. Originally established in 1928 as a fish hatchery, the 3,000-acre lake now attracts visitors from all over looking for their record-sized largemouth bass.
