Louisiana’s small towns are truly the heartbeat of the state. Filled with history and charm, our small towns make for incredible day trips. Small towns are often home to some of the best cooking you’ll ever eat, and that’s certainly true of this one little eatery in the tiny town of Lecompte. Often overlooked as a “drive-by” town for folks driving along LA-71, there’s one restaurant that’s worth a stop, and they just so happen to have some of the best pies in Louisiana.
Lea’s Lunchroom has been a favorite pit-stop for many since they opened in 1928.
That's almost 100 years! Lea Johnson opened the doors to this historic restaurant back in 1928 and committed to serving good food in the hopes that people would return. It quickly became a neighborhood favorite, and the rest, as they say, is history.
You’ll feel right at home at this family-run spot.
The menu is written daily on a chalkboard and covers everything from fried chicken to stuffed cabbage rolls. Lea’s is famous for their ham, and you’ll always find their delicious baked ham and ham sandwich on the menu.
And the recipe hasn't changed in nearly a century. There's something special about knowing that a pie you tasted in the '70s is the same recipe served today.
Lea’s bakes nine different flavors of pie each and every day: coconut, lemon, chocolate, banana, peach, cherry, bumbleberry, apple, and pecan, the best seller of them all.
It's perfect for your next event or family dinner!
For more information, visit their website, and don’t forget to give them a follow on Facebook so you can peep their daily specials. If you’ve ever dined at Lea’s, let us know in the comments!
