The Kisatchie National Forest has some of the best primitive camping in Louisiana. The 600,000-acre forest spans over seven parishes and is filled with rugged terrain, piney hills, and beautiful longleaf pine forests.
It's is also the trailhead for the Glenn Emery Trail, a lovely 4-mile out-and-back trail that will lead you on a peaceful journey through a beautiful forest setting. Whether you’re walking, biking, or on horseback, this trail will make you feel like you’re a million miles away from it all.
The campground is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for day use for $5 per vehicle per day. So even if you can't get away for a weekend, you can still spend the day at Stuart Lake.
Camping fees are $15 per night for a single site and $20 per night for a double unit.
