When we talk about Cajun foods, we normally think about Cajun Country, right? Some of the best Cajun foods you’ll ever taste can be found in those small towns around Lafayette, where the recipes are passed down from generation to generation, and everyone knows your name from the moment you step inside. Well, this shop isn’t in Cajun Country, but I can promise you that they’re serving up some of the best Cajun food in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This place is absolutely worth a road trip for. Actually, you may even want to bring a cooler so you can really stock up!
If you ask anyone in Baton Rouge where to get the best boudin, they’ll tell you to head over to Jerry Lee’s on Greenwell Springs Road.
Jerry Lee, a native of Martinville, grew up in a house where something was always cooking in the kitchen, and it’s where his love for cooking began. He and his family bought a Kwik Shop in 1978, and it didn’t take long to turn it into Jerry Lee’s Cajun Foods.
Jerry Lee’s is known for its sausage selection, and more specifically, the boudin.
Jerry Lee spent many years perfecting his homemade boudin recipe. It was a long trial-and-error process, but one that paid off! Now this secret family recipe has earned itself a cult-like following with locals on the hunt for the best boudin in Baton Rouge.
Visit the Jerry Lee’s Cajun Foods website for a full menu. You can even find a few recipes on there so you can turn your kitchen into a Cajun masterpiece! Don’t forget to give Jerry Lee’s a follow on Facebook, too.
