Did you know that there are 21 state parks in Louisiana? From the largest to the smallest, each one of Louisiana’s state parks boasts incredible beauty, fascinating history, wildlife viewing opportunities, and a chance to get away from it all and surround yourself with Louisiana’s insanely beautiful natural landscape. The tiniest state park in all of Louisiana may not seem like it should move to the top of your bucket list, but we promise this tiny but mighty state park packs a punch for its small size.
You’ll find Lake Bruin State Park in St. Joseph, Louisiana.
There are three piers to fish from, as well as rental boats available if you’d like to take to the water to find your new favorite honey hole. Largemouth bass are popular year-round, but if you’re fishing along the pier, you stand a good chance of snagging a white perch or bluegill.

Water sports are a popular pastime on the lake, too.
Primitive campsites and RV hook-ups are both available, but if you really want to treat yourself, go ahead and rent one of the cabins. Most cabins can sleep up to four people, but the deluxe cabins can sleep up to eight. You'll have plenty of space to sprawl out in between adventures.
Of course, nothing beats a waterfront sunset, and Lake Bruin State Park specializes in this spectacle.
There's nothing more beautiful than a sunset over the water. Grill up your catch of the day, hang out by the fire, and watch the sun dip below the horizon. Not a bad day for a tiny state park, right?
