Experience a day in the life of the Adai Indian by visiting historic dwellings, viewing artifacts, and exploring the cultural center. St. Anne’s Catholic Church is also on the site, and it’s the oldest church in the Louisiana Purchase and played a role in converting the Adai to Catholicism.

This is an informative museum telling the history the prison, the lives of the inmates, and how the prison has reformed since it was established. You’ll also be able to view weapons that were made (and confiscated) in prison, and even stories of escapes.

Built in 1849, the Autrey House is the oldest surviving structure in the Parish. The log dogtrot-style house was very common for that time period, as it allowed for a nice breeze throughout the house. Typically, one side of the house was used for cooking and eating while the other side was living space and a bedroom.

Camp Moore was the largest Confederate training camp in Louisiana and the only one in the country that is still open to the public. The museum will take you through the life of the average soldier, displaying everything from shaving kits and board games to uniforms and weapons.

The DeQuincy Railroad Museum is filled with artifacts and information about how the railroad industry shaped the area. The museum is housed in the 1923 Kansas City Southern Depot, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Just some of the items on display include a restored 1913 steam locomotive, a 1947 passenger coach, two vintage cabooses, and many model trains.
