It’s no surprise that summer in Louisiana can be rather brutal. When those temperatures start to rise, it’s easy to just stay within the comforts of your air-conditioned home, but where’s the fun in that? I’m always on the hunt for an outdoor area to enjoy, and this is one of the best small-town lakes in Louisiana to beat the heat. Grab your squad, a swimsuit, and your sunscreen, because this beautiful lake will become your new go-to spot for summer fun.
Boyce is a tiny little town in northern Rapides Parish that’s home to about 1,000 people.
You can also fish from the nearby piers or just from the bank! Obviously, you'll want to steer clear of the swimming area. Largemouth bass, sunfish, bluegill, and channel catfish are just a few of the fish you could reel in.

Tunk's Cypress Inn is known for its oysters, but you'll find all sorts of yummy seafood options here, and if you can time your visit around sunset, you'll be in for quite the show!
