There are seafood restaurants, and then there are Louisiana seafood restaurants. We know how to cook seafood better than any other state, and we’re proud of it! While it’s nearly impossible to name all of the incredible seafood restaurants in Louisiana, there is a handful that stand out from the rest, and they’re certainly worthy of a visit from any part of the state. Next time you’re on the hunt for some delicious seafood, consider heading over to one of the local eateries, serving up some of the best seafood in the state.
From charbroiled oysters to alligator bites, Big Al’s is a favorite for those in the Houma area, and it’s been that way since they opened in 1995. If you find yourself at Big Al’s during crawfish season, well then treat yourself to a couple of pounds of mudbugs from the self-proclaimed Crawfish King.
For good old-fashioned Cajun and Creole food, it doesn’t get much better than Boutin’s. Some may remember when they were located in Baton Rouge a number of years ago… well, you’ll be happy to hear that they’ve since reopened over in Carencro, keeping some of the old favorites while introducing new ones. We’d recommend starting with one of the incredible appetizers - like the crawfish wontons or crabmeat-stuffed mushrooms - before feasting on one of their house specialties like crawfish enchiladas or crabmeat eggplant.
For quality Cajun food outside of Cajun Country, Crawdaddy’s Kitchen in Shreveport is the place to be. Just a few of their house specialties include gumbo, étouffée, and crawfish pies.
If you love oysters, then Drago’s is your spot. Since 1969, they’ve been serving up delicious seafood selections, and their chargrilled oysters are the star of the show. The family-owned and operated eatery has locations in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Metairie, Lafayette, and even one in Jackson, Mississippi, so you’re never too far away from deliciousness.
This iconic Shreveport dive has been at it since 1945 and their motto is, "If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it." We can assure you, there’s nothing broken about their famous Shrimp Buster, a unique spin on the classic shrimp po’boy.
With a name like that, what else would you expect? In addition to tender catfish and boiled jumbo shrimp, the alligator bites and crawfish tails are worthy of a splurge.
Home of the thin-fried catfish, no seafood list is complete without mentioning this historic restaurant in Manchac. The crispy catfish and waterfront views have made this humble joint a favorite since 1934. They also opened a second location in Slidell, so pick the closest one to you and chow down!
