Louisiana knows a thing or two about seafood, so it makes sense that we have endless festivals throughout the year celebrating anything and everything about seafood. The Delcambre Shrimp Festival is just around the corner, and this amazing seafood festival is the best way to spend a summer’s day. It’s one of the most popular shrimp festivals in Louisiana, and worthy of your time. Let’s check it out:
Delcambre is a charming little town in both Iberia and Vermilion parishes, not far from Abbeville.
Located right in the Cajun heartland, this sleepy little town comes alive every year for the Delcambre Shrimp Festival, and you’re not going to want to miss it
Due to its proximity to the Delcambre Canal and the Gulf of Mexico, Delcambre is a hub for the seafood industry, especially shrimping.
When the canal was dredged in 1906, it made way for Delcambre to become the center of the shrimping industry, so it makes sense that every year they would host a major festival to celebrate the history of the town.

The festival returns for its 69th year on August 14-18, 2019, and this year promises to be one of the best.
The festival began in 1950 as a means to raise funds for the Delcambre Fire Department. Today, the event is considered one of the top festival in the entire state.

The five-day festival is jam packed with activities that the entire family will love.
Dance the night away to some of the most talented musical acts in the area, while feasting on delicious shrimp sounds like a perfect Louisiana night, right?
All of the dishes are prepared by volunteer members of the festival association, so even though this festival may be one of the top in Louisiana, it still has a small-town vibe.
