Only In Louisiana Can You Attend This Fantastical Festival
The Rougarou Festival is one of the most popular festivals in the state, and was named one of the top ten costume parties in the country by USA Today. It’s all going down this weekend, so clear your schedule because you won’t want to miss this.

Founded in 2012, the Rougarou Festival continues to grow and become one of the most epic festivals in Louisiana.

Carnival rides for the kids (and adults), crafts, face painting, rougarou storytelling, and so much more make this a jam packed weekend filled with activities the whole family will enjoy.

To be honest, I’d totally get my face painted to look like this. Why should the kids have all the fun?

Registration begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday October 21, and the contest begins at 5 p.m. on the courthouse steps. Registration is free, and each category is limited to 100 contestants, so be sure to register early!

And the winners will take home a trophy and bragging rights. The categories are: pets, most creative, funniest, scariest, movie characters, kids costume ages 5 and under, kids costume ages 6-12, and best overall.

The Krewe Ga You Parade is one of the main attractions at the festival. There’ll be giant puppets, dancing zombies and witches, floats, specialty vehicles and classic cars, and much more. If Mardi Gras and Halloween had a baby, it would be this parade.

Their address is 7910 Park Avenue, Houma, LA 70360.
