Let’s check it out.
If you’ve lived in Louisiana for any stretch of time, you’ve probably heard about the Myrtles Plantation.
Known for being one of the most haunted plantations in the country, the historic property is now a bed and breakfast where you can spend a relaxing weekend… if you don’t mind the paranormal factor, that is.
Located on the property, Restaurant 1796 is one of the most unique restaurants in Louisiana.
Named for the year the plantation was built, Restaurant 1796 opened in 2019 and replaced the Carriage House Restaurant, which was sadly destroyed by a fire in 2017.

Everything on the menu is either cooked on the hearth or finished off over the fire.
Steaks were meant to be cooked over an open flame, and the folks at Restaurant 1796 do not disappoint. Served with a horseradish creme fraiche and potato gratin, this is one meal fit for a king.
No matter what you get, you're in for one of the most unique dining experiences in Louisiana.
