There’s nothing better than sinking your teeth into an old fashioned po’boy that’s dressed to the max. Not all po’boys are created equal, and it only takes one bad po’boy to make you truly appreciate those restaurants that are doing it right. Next time you’re in the mood for a hearty po’boy, make your way on over to Lake Charles where Darrell’s has some of the best po’boys in Louisiana, and they’ve been a local favorite for over 30 years.
When it comes to po’boys, one place stands out from the rest: Darrell’s in Lake Charles.
The casual eatery has been a local watering hole since they opened their doors in 1985.
What began as a humble little bar quickly grew into a full-service, family-friendly restaurant where you can feast on some of the best po’boys you’ve ever had.
They make all of their own gravy, BBQ sauce, and jalapeño mayonnaise (a local favorite) in-house every single day, so you know you’re getting a po’boy with only the freshest ingredients.
This po’boy is piled high with ham, turkey, roast beef, and their homemade roast beef gravy. You’re going to need a stack of napkins to get through this one.
Darrell’s has two locations, so you’re never too far away from a hearty po’boy.
Lake Charles Address: 119 West College Street, Lake Charles, LA, 70605
Jennings Address: 1002 N. Lake Arthur Avenue, Jennings, LA, 70546
While you’re in Lake Charles, you might as well make a day of exploring the city! Start with a stroll through the scenic Prien Lake Park before popping over to the USS Orleck, one of the most decorated US Navy ships since WWII.
For more information, including hours of operation for both locations and a full menu, be sure to check out their website. Have you ever dined at Darrell’s? Share your experience with us in the comments below!
