We’ve had quite the cold front come through the past few days, and we aren’t used to seeing these types of temperatures for an extended period of time. While we may not have the drastic winters the northern states do, there are still a few tips and tricks to get you through the coldest parts of winter in New Orleans.
Due to the high humidity levels, it’ll feel much colder than it actually is, and will chill you right to the bone.
Light layers are the key to surviving a winter in New Orleans. It could be 40 degrees in the morning and 75 by the afternoon, so layering up is your best bet for staying comfortable throughout the day.

Most days, you can get by with a sweatshirt or hoodie, but everyone should have at least one heavy coat for those days where it stays 30-40 degrees for a few days at a time.
