There are some amazing waterfront cabins not far from New Orleans that make for an unforgettable adventure, and you need to see it to believe it. You’ll be surrounded by nature, history, and some of the most dazzling sunsets in the area.
You’ll find Fontainebleau State Park over in Mandeville, nestled up on the shores of beautiful Lake Pontchartrain.
Depending on the cabin, they can sleep anywhere from 8-10 people, plus they have group camps that can sleep 65-100 people which are great for family reunions and work retreats.

Since they’re located right on the water, you’ll have some spectacular scenery.
There’s a hiking trail that’s just shy of five miles, and another nature trail that’s about one and a half miles long. This time of year if the perfect time to explore them, since the weather is perfect for enjoying some time outdoors!
The land was once a sugar mill and brickyard, and you can still see the ruins when you visit.
Built in 1829 by Bernard de Marigny de Mandeville, the founder of Mandeville, it’s truly a fascinating site to see. He used the land as a sugar plantation until 1852, and named it Fontainebleau after the forest that’s located near Paris.
