When you need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, we are lucky that we can take a short drive and be immersed in some of the most beautiful scenery Louisiana has to offer. This particular nature preserve is so spectacular, every New Orleanian should see it at least once.
Barataria Preserve is maintained by Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.
It’s not uncommon to see alligators, turtles, raccoons, deer, and all the usual swamp critters that call the area home. The preserve is also home to more than 200 species of birds and an array of wildflowers and plant life.
