When you’re in the mood for some finger-licking good BBQ, there are several spots in New Orleans you could turn to. From The Joint to Blue Oak BBQ, you certainly have some first-class options when it comes to BBQ in the Big Easy. This particular BBQ joint is an underrated hidden gem, and you should definitely give it a try.
Tucked away in the Warehouse District, the Ugly Dog Saloon opened its doors in 1998.
Since then, they’ve gained quite the following. So much so that they were able to open another location over in Metairie. This casual joint has an atmosphere that’s comfortable, cozy, and friendly. Bring the gang, grab a table, and prepare to feast on some of the best BBQ you’ve ever had.
For starters, go ahead and grab a plate of their ugly nachos for the table. House fried tortilla chips topped with slow cooked pulled pork and house-made queso served with jalapeños, chili beans, and chipotle sour cream. This is just where it begins, y’all.
Pictured below are their Ugly Tacos, which might just make your taste buds explode. You have a choice of either pulled pork or pulled chicken topped with their famous housemate coleslaw and a healthy drizzle of their chipotle mayo. Yum!
They also serve brunch on the weekends, featuring a delicious assortment of classic dishes like shrimp and grits, but also Ugly Dog Saloon specialties like BBQ brisket omelettes and a burnt end Benedict that might just become your new favorite dish.
