The only National Park near New Orleans, this 23,000 acre wetland park offers some gorgeous trails and walks that will really immerse you in nature.

There are a few areas along the Uptown Mississippi River levee that make for some really beautiful walks. You can start at the intersection of Magazine St. and River Road, where a small natural riverside area is great to enjoy the Mississippi, or to where Oak Street meets the river, where you can continue your walk along the levee all the way to Metairie if you'd like!

This trail in City Park is an amazing testament to what great landscaping can do to create a deep forest feeling on such a small piece of land.

This brand new trail that connects downtown with mid-city is a gorgeous way to see an interesting cross section by foot or by bike!


Another newer park allows walkers to enjoy the native plant landscaping as they follow the river through the Marigny and into the Bywater.

This gorgeous 1.8 mile loop framed by amazing live oak trees is one of the most peaceful and picturesque walks you can take in New Orleans.

This Kenner park offers a home to so many various birds from around the city as well as some really beautiful water features, like the waterfall pictured here. Great place to bring the dogs!
