There’s certainly no shortage of history when it comes to New Orleans. Just about everywhere you go is stepped with history and preserved for future generations. History lovers will absolutely have a blast exploring this one unique museum in New Orleans, where you can catch a glimpse of what everyday life was like for New Orleanians over 150 years ago. Let’s check it out.
Right in the middle of the French Quarter in Jackson Square lies a little piece of history that history lovers will be fascinated by. You've probably passed by it dozens of times, but have you ever gone inside?
The 1850 House is a recreation of a typical antebellum home in New Orleans that’s operated by Friends of the Cabildo, a private non-profit group that’s dedicated to preserving this beautiful piece of history for future generations.
The museum doesn’t depict a single family’s house, but rather a general overview of what a typical mid-to-upper-class New Orleanian home was like in the 1850s.
Address: 523 St. Ann Street #3318, New Orleans, LA, 70116
