There are so many perks to living in Louisiana, it’s hard to keep count. One of the best perks is all those fresh, Louisiana strawberries that line the shelves at the grocery store this time of year. We’re in the midst of berry-picking season, which means you’ve got to start planning a weekend to spend picking your own strawberries. Mrs. Heather’s is just a short drive from the city, and the entire family will love getting to spend a day picking strawberries and playing on the farm.
If you’re looking to take a break from the city and spend an afternoon in rural Louisiana, a visit to Mrs. Heather’s is in order.
Located in Albany (which is about an hour's drive from New Orleans), Mrs. Heather’s is a pumpkin patch and strawberry farm that’s fun for the whole family.
Since they opened in 1996, this picturesque little farm has been a tradition for countless families in both the fall and spring, and you could start your very own family tradition!
The farm is already open for the season and you’ll be able to wander through the strawberry patches, picking all those delicious strawberries right off the vine.
In addition to daily events like face painting and educational activities, kids will love soaring down the zipline and challenging their friends to a tractor race.
After a full day of picking strawberries and playing on the farm, you'll drive home with a huge flat of strawberries that you picked, ready to be preserved, made into jam, or just to snack on the way home!
