When it comes to sandwiches in New Orleans, the po’boy typically reigns king, no doubt about it. But when you’re looking to step away from the iconic po’boy and sink your teeth into something a little more New York-style, then you’ve got to make your way over to Stein’s Market where you’ll be feasting on some of the best deli sandwiches in the city.
Nestled on historic Magazine Street in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, Stein’s Market and Deli is an authentic Jewish-Italian deli/market.
Not only do they have a huge assortment of deli sandwiches, but you’ll also find hidden gems like bagels and lox, salads, soups, and several side dishes to pair with your sandwich.
Speaking of bagels, no Jewish-Italian deli would be complete without an assortment of incredible bagels including poppyseed, garlic, blueberry, cinnamon-raisin, and the always popular everything bagel.
Once you’ve made your decision, you’ll place your order at the counter and wait for your name to be called. It’s not unusual for this tiny little place to fill up during peak hours, so you’ll want to scout out a table beforehand.
While you wait, take the opportunity to check out their assortment of wines, craft beers, and specialty grocery items. You might just find your new favorite wine and/or cheese!
From Reubens to roast beef, you’ll find all your classic deli sandwiches on the menu, plus a few signature Stein’s sandwiches. Served with a pickle, of course.
