While no one is 100% certain, pralines are thought to have originated in France in the 17th century when a chef coated almonds with sugar, and the rest, as they say, is history. Over the next hundred years, milk was added to the recipe and pecans were swapped out for almonds, resulting in the pecan pralines you know and love today.
