In any other state, it would be called a grinder, a hoagie, or a sub. But in New Orleans, this prized sandwich is known as the po’boy, and it’s been a favorite meal for New Orleanians for over a century. There are plenty of places to grab a decent po’boy in the city, but for one of the best roast beef po’boys you’ve ever had, you’ve got to make your way over to Metairie where you’ll find the beloved R & O’s Restaurant, a favorite spot for anyone looking for a delicious meal in a casual space. Let’s check it out.
Located good old Bucktown, R & O’s has been a favorite eatery for locals since 1980.
They offer three different versions of this New Orleans classic, and each one is worthy of a bite. You can choose from the traditional roast beef, an Italian roast beef with red gravy, or go with their signature ham and roast beef with Swiss cheese.
Just be sure to grab a stack of napkins before you dive in, because these overstuffed po'boys sure are messy!
For more information, be sure to check out their website and give them a follow on Facebook.
