Just a short drive from the city, the John Slidell Park Trail is about 1.5-miles long and also dog friendly, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend along for some fresh air.

There’s so much to love about the Tammany Trace. Over 30 miles of paved walkway connect 5 towns on the northshore, but don’t worry, you don’t have to tackle the entire 30 miles in one go. You can start and stop your adventure at any of the trailheads located in Mandeville, Covington, Abita Springs, Lacombe, or Slidell.

This lovely little trail tucked inside of Fontainebleau State Park is great for wildlife viewing. Along the nearly 4-mile trail you could see gators, snakes, wild hogs, and tons of birds.

When you want to get outside but don’t have the time to leave the city, head on over to City Park. The South Loop is about 4-miles long and will lead you all around the park giving you beautiful glimpses of the lakes, green spaces, and beautiful oak trees.

Located in Metairie at Lafreniere Park, this 2-mile loop trail is just what you need when you need to get away for a bit and immerse yourself in some picture perfect scenery. The trail will take you around the perimeter of the park, and the views of the lake will mesmerize you.
