I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
You don’t always have to wait for taco Tuesday to chow down on mouthwatering tacos at a Mexican restaurant in New Orleans. While there are plenty of places you can go, Panchita’s Mexican Criolla Cuisine on Carrollton Ave. is a tiny spot that serves delicious south-of-the-border food made with fresh ingredients.
Some of our favorite local restaurants are the small, hole-in-the-wall type of places. Panchita's Mexican Criolla Cuisine definitely falls into that category.
This quaint Mexican eatery is quite charming inside with its painted walls and Mexican decor. While eating inside is always an option, customers like to dine out on the sidewalk on warm, sunny days.
And while breakfast is always a good idea, so are tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, and all the other delicious Mexican dishes available on the menu.
It's taco day every day here at Panchita's! If you're having trouble choosing from all the options, order the Taco Suaves. This plate is served with three soft tacos of your choice of al pastor, carnitas, asada, barbacoa, pollo, suadero, lengua, chorizo, shrimp, or fish. Rice and beans are served on the side.
The portions are quite sizeable especially if you order one of the combination dishes. Pictured here is the Tapiquena dish with steak, entomatada, rice, beans, French fries, fried plantain, and salad.
Of course, there are plenty of refreshing beverages available to complement your meal from agua frescas to Mexican soft drinks, beer, wine, sangria, micheladas, margaritas, and Coronitas.
Have you eaten at this wonderful Mexican restaurant in New Orleans? What is your favorite place for Mexican cuisine? Tell us in the comments! For more information, visit the Panchita’s Mexican Criolla Cuisine website and Facebook page.
If you love tacos, you can also try Cuñada, located in the French Quarter.
