New Orleans is no stranger to the paranormal. With any city as old as ours, you’re bound to have a few spirits that just can’t stay away. If you’re a believer in the paranormal, then you must pay this historic bar in the French Quarter a visit. Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop is one of New Orleans’ oldest, most haunted bars and it’s worthy of a visit, even if you don’t believe in the supernatural. Let’s check it out.

And of course, maybe a bar or two peppered in between the attractions.

You can’t miss it when you’re walking by.

The building dates back to about 1722, and is one of the oldest surviving structures in the French Quarter.

And some of them just won’t leave, even after death.

From demons to pirates, there seem to be a few lingering spirits at this bar.

When you’re sitting around this bar, keep an eye out in the corners. This is allegedly the favorite spot for Jean Lafitte to be seen. Those that have seen him reported that he just stands in the shadows, surveying the area. When your eyes meet, he will vanish into thin air.

The fireplace has been a paranormal hotspot for quite some time, but not with the most friendly of spirits.

Patrons have reportedly seen a pair of glowing red eyes emanating from the fireplace. Sometimes the eyes will float around the heads of the bartenders, only to disappear without a trace.

It could very well be Jean Lafitte himself just popping in to check in on things.
