New Orleans has dozens of restaurants that have stood the test of time. From Commander’s to Central Grocery, New Orleans is a city that loves to eat, and our restaurants tend to stick around for a long time. That’s certainly the case with this old-school steak house, that’s been around for 85 years, making it the oldest family-owned steakhouse in New Orleans. Let’s take a closer look.
For an old-school, charming restaurant, look no further than Crescent City Steaks. This historic restaurant has been around since 1934, serving generations of New Orleans mouthwatering sizzling steaks year after year.
This Mid-City steak house evokes a certain sense of nostalgia for locals, and all it takes is one visit to become a lifelong customer. From the service to the atmosphere, you’ll have a memorable experience from the moment you set foot in this family-owed and operated restaurant.
If you can, call ahead and reserve one of their private booths for a quintessential Crescent City Steak House experience. These booths are sectioned off with a curtain, making you feel like you’ve got the whole place to yourself.

Of course, steaks are what they’re known for, but we’ll get to that in a minute. This meal is going to be an experience, so you’re going to want to start with an appetizer. It may sound strange to get onion rings as an appetizer at a steakhouse, but we promise…they’re worth it.
Now onto the main meal. When John Vojkovich opened the restaurant in 1934, he wanted to keep the menu simple and only offer steaks, and that’s still true today.
We know it will be hard, but try to save room for dessert. Their Z Pie is an ice cream lover’s dream: chocolate cookie crust with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Yum!
Address: 1001 North Broad Street, New Orleans, LA, 70119
