New Orleans isn’t necessarily known for its plentiful opportunities to relax and enjoy nature—but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there! There’s a lot of beautiful places where you can sneak away and commune with mother earth. Perhaps the most beautiful is the trails at Couturie Forest in City Park. To find it, travel east along Harrison Ave. and you’ll find the trail entrance on your left, right before the roundabout. You don’t want to miss this natural oasis in New Orleans.

The winding trails along this sliver of nature will make you feel like you're deep in the woods right away.

There is even a 'hill' along the trails that peaks at this stump-topped area, perfect for a rest while you are walking.

A stone-lined path leads you away from the top of the hill and towards the various bayous that surround the woods.

There are tons of natural plants and wildlife here, including large amounts of dewberries that ripen in the early spring.

The surrounding waters are a perfect place to spy pelicans and other majestic water birds.

The trails are perfect to bring along your sweetie, your kids, or even your four legged friends.

So consider a hike along the trials in Couterie Forest.
