Luckily, you don’t have to travel very far from the city to get your nature fix in. When nature calls, a visit to this incredible nature center near New Orleans is worth the road trip. Tucked away in the heart of Mandeville, this hidden gem has some of the most beautiful trails near New Orleans, and the whole family is going to love it. Let’s check it out.
The Northlake Nature Center is a beautiful little pocket of paradise located just a short drive across the Causeway in Mandeville.
Established in 1982, this natural oasis is just the ticket for those days when you need to get away from it all and surround yourself with our beautiful natural landscape.
As you meander through the trails, you’ll encounter several different ecosystems, including a pine-hardwood forest, a hardwood forest, and a pond swamp. The 8+ miles of trails are filled with wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled for songbirds, turtles, snakes and other swamp creatures that call the area home.
Along your journey, you’ll come across some truly mesmerizing water views. All of the trails have incredible scenic spots including sweeping views of Savanna Lake, Bayou Castine, and Beaver Pond.
