The Woodlands Conservancy Is Best Nature Trail Near New Orleans

The weather is perfect right now to get outside and spend some time in nature. Luckily, you won’t have to travel far from the city to be surrounded by beautiful pines and hardwood forests. This particular trail is just about 20 minutes from the city, and might just be the most amazing hidden gem near New Orleans. Let’s check it out.

You’ll find the Woodlands Conservancy over in Belle Chasse.

Dedicated to preserving and restoring critical forested wetlands that are so important to our community, this nonprofit features 630 acres of some of Louisiana’s most beautiful scenery.

There are over 10 miles of trails perfect for hiking, photography, birdwatching and wildlife viewing.

The trail system also winds along a spill-bank, providing beautiful wetland views.

At the end of the Bottomland Trail, you’ll come across a bit of history.

You’ll find a grouping of 10 WWII Ammuniation Magazines, relics left behind from when the area was occupied by the military in the late 1930s.
