Po’boys and New Orleans go together like peanut butter and jelly. There’s no better sandwich than the po’boy, and there’s certainly no shortage of incredible po’boy restaurants to visit when you need your fix. There’s one po’boy shop in the city that’s serving up some of the biggest po’boys in New Orleans, and they’re worth a visit. Grab a stack of napkins and roll up your sleeves, because today we’re heading to Mahony’s to check out their incredible selection of massive po’boys.
There are two Mahony’s locations in New Orleans, one Uptown and one in the Quarter.
The original Uptown location opened its doors in 2008 and can be found in a charming little cottage over on Magazine Street. Their newer location opened in 2018 and is on Iberville Street in the French Quarter.
The Magazine Street location is charming and cozy and one of those places you can quickly find yourself staying for hours.
Their specialty po’boys include everything from traditional roast beef to chicken livers and slaw. You’ll find yourself coming back again and again to eat your way through the entire menu.
But it doesn’t stop there. Mahony’s also serves brunch on the weekends, and they’ve got a brunch po’boy that’s worth waking up early for.
Their Sawmill Hot Sausage Po’boy takes breakfast sandwiches to new levels. This bad boy is filled with a hot sausage patty, Irish white cheddar cheese, fried green tomatoes and eggs over easy and then topped with their signature sausage-gravy. Grab some napkins, you’re going to need them.
For more information, including a full menu and hours of operation, be sure to check out their website and give them a follow on Facebook.
