Sure, there are countless restaurants within New Orleans that are downright delicious. But when you’ve got a craving for some incredible diner food, a little road trip is in order. This little diner across the lake is serving up some of the most delicious breakfast and lunch in the area, and it’s certainly worthy of the extra effort to get there. Gas up the car, because today we’re headed across the lake to Mandeville, Louisiana to check out Liz’s Where Y’at Diner.
For delicious diner fare, there’s one place that’s doing it better than most, and that’s Liz’s Where Y’at Diner.
Nestled in the heart of Old Mandeville, this beloved diner has been a favorite for many locals since they opened in 2009. They recently reopened after a devastating fire in June of this year that closed the restaurant for three months.
Back and better than ever, the restaurant still maintains the quirky atmosphere that they’re known for.
Casual and cheerful, the island vibes will make you want to stay here long after your meal, just enjoying the company and conversations with your loved ones.
Specifically, their BBQ shrimp po’boy, pictured above. This twist on a New Orleans classic features BBQ shrimp stuffed in a hollowed out loaf of French bread and served with a hearty dose of French fries. You’ll find yourself wanting to lick the plate it’s so good!
