Most People Don't Know The History Behind This Popular New Orleans Eatery
Just about everything in New Orleans has a history to it, and this building is no different. La Petite Grocery serves elegant and mouthwatering cuisine you’re sure to love, and next time you dine there, you’ll understand the history of this amazing building.

But most people don’t know the story behind the historic building.

Together, they opened up the Central Tea, Coffee & Butter Depot which was wonderfully successful.

It set them back, but like true New Orleanians, they rebuilt.

It had a full service grocery store and and a barn in the back with horses, and stable hands that would help with delivery charges.

The store continued to operate successfully for 35 years. After Frank Mackie passed away in 1942, his youngest son took over for a while before selling the business to Frank A. Von Der Haar. Von Der Haar’s Fine Foods operated for nearly 40 years before closing down in 1982.

They shut down just after 2000, paving the way for the restaurant we all know and love to open its doors in this historic building.

You can find La Petite Grocery at 4238 Magazine Street.
