Come out to the levees to celebrate a massive bonfire meant to light the way for Papa Noel. Although it’s unknown exactly when this festival began, there’s documentation that dates back all the way to 1884. Once night falls on Christmas Eve, as many as 100 massive structures are set on fire, creating an amazing flow all along the river. The bonfires are found about 30-40 miles upriver from New Orleans in St. James Parish.

Not a festival, but still an event that you should attend! On Saturday, December 2, 2017, The Krewe of Jingle parade will roll down Canal Street. Featuring festive floats, marching bands, and several beloved Christmas characters, you won’t want to miss this family friendly parade.

Head out to Hammond for one of the most unique festivals Louisiana has to offer. Every year, more than 600 artisans create the "Village of Albright" where you’ll feel like you’ve time traveled into another era. Dozens of professional performers, more than 50 live shows, demonstrations, and entertainers welcome you warmly to the Village of Albright. The festival runs for 6 weeks, and the last two weekends are December 2-3 and 9-10. This is also a perfect place to shop for some unique, handmade Christmas gifts for your friends and family!

The 13th annual Christmas Past Festival will kick off on December 9th from 9am-3pm in Mandeville. Following the festival, the Winter on the Water Parade will roll down Lakeshore Drive. Over 70 vendors, live music by Amanda Shaw, Irish Dancing, and of course— Santa Claus and the gang.
