Originally, the location was the home of one of the original explorers that helped found New Orleans, Claude Trepagnier. Some of his servants who lived in this area are said to haunt the area.
Later, the 1788 fire burned down the grand home that had been built there, and Pierre Antoine Lepardi purchased the property.

Lepardi was known for a love of grandeur, and he built the structure that is still in place today.
Pierre Antoine built his dream home, and all seemed well.
