Take This Haunted Pub Crawl In New Orleans For A Truly Spooky Night

Built in 1848, the Jimani House is a popular late-night haunt with a tragic history. In 1973, it was firebombed, which resulted in the death of 32 people and is considered one of the country’s worst and most horrific hate crimes at the time. Many who visit the club today can still sense the spirits of those who passed away on that tragic day.

The second oldest restaurant in New Orleans has a couple of wandering spirits. One ghost is believed to be Julian Eltinge, a famous actor in the early 1900s. When his photo was moved into the attic a few years ago, he made himself very well known until his photo was returned back to the dining room. But that’s just the start of the paranormal experiences at this historic restaurant. The sounds of breaking glass is often heard (when no actual shattered glass can be found) and many staff members refuse to go up to the attic, where they feel unsafe and often feel as though they are being watched.

Home of the hurricane, and maybe a couple of playful spirits, a trip to Pat O’s is always a good time. The most haunted areas of this iconic bar are the upstairs ladies room and the piano bar. Many staff have reported hearing unexplained footsteps, sudden cold spots, and even the feeling of being pushed or shoved. If you find yourself alone in the ladies room, you might hear some footsteps, disembodied laughter, or unexplained noises when no one else is around.

This popular gay bar on Bourbon Street is home to the ghost of "Mam," a Creole lady that has appeared to many patrons and staff member over the years. She appears wearing a cotton dress with a bandana around her head, holding a long wooden spoon. Others have reported sudden sold spots and disembodied voices when standing on the balcony.

We've saved the most haunted for last. Perhaps the most iconic building on Bourbon Street, this historic building dates back to the early 1700s and is considered the oldest structure in the country currently being used as a bar. There are reportedly a few different spirits that seem to be lingering here, and the most frequent sighting is that of the infamous pirate Jean Lafitte, who once used the building as a home base for his Barataria smuggling operation. You might catch a glimpse of him standing in the corner, just observing the crowd, but if your eyes meet, he will vanish into thin air.
