These 5 Summer Attractions Around New Orleans Are Both Open And Free

City Park is full of attractions, and the sculpture garden is just the tip of the iceberg. The 11-acre sculpture garden holds more than 80 sculptures nestled underneath 200-year-old live oaks.

More commonly known as "the Fly", this picture-perfect park is a great little grassy area to sprawl out on. Nestled along the Mississippi River, visitors can sit back and watch the ships pass by and enjoy the lovely water view. Grab a po’boy from your favorite restaurant ahead of time and enjoy a delightful picnic!

The Northlake Nature Center is about a 30 minute drive outside of New Orleans, but it’s worth the extra effort. Nature lovers will be in paradise exploring the labyrinth of boardwalk and gravel trails that will lead you through the center’s 400 acres of beautiful marshes bayous, and scenic overlooks.

There are several Farmers Markets that pop up throughout the city during the week, and the Uptown location will be reopening on July 7, 2020. From 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. you can pop by Uptown Square on Broadway Street and check out all of the local merchants selling everything from freshly baked breads to local produce. It’ll be hard to escape this market without purchasing a few things, but it’ll be worth it!

Our cemeteries are hauntingly beautiful, and if you’ve never taken the time to explore one, you’re missing out. There are several that are open and free to the public to explore, including St. Louis Cemetery No. 2, St. Roch Cemetery, and Lafayette Cemetery No. 2.
