Have you ever been to a music festival in New Orleans? If so, you know how great they are. But the French Quarter Fest might very well be the best. As Jazz Fest has slowly become more and more focused on out of town visitors, FQF has been able to stay FREE to the public and features some of New Orleans’ favorite homegrown musicians.

The French Quarter Festival is held in the second full weekend of April, but never on an Easter weekend.

This year, that means it's taking place from April 6th-April 9th.
The four day festival takes place throughout the French Quarter in New Orleans, with the largest stages being right on the river in Woldenberg Park and Jackson Square.

Over 1700 musicians play over 400 hours of completely free music!! Does it get any better than that?
What's even more spectacular is nearly all of the musicians are completely local to Louisiana.

That means that legends like Buckwheat Zydeco, pictured here, get their due. I have heard some truly amazing sets hanging out at the French Quarter Fest.
