New Orleans is known for so many delicious foods it’s hard to keep track. Certainly one of the most iconic culinary pillars of the Crescent City is the muffuletta. While many will tell you there’s no better place than Central Grocery, the originators of this tasty sandwich, there is a little eatery over in Metairie that’s worth a visit, and that’s the Come Back Inn. Not only do they serve one of the best muffulettas in the area, but some of the most incredible homemade dinners, po’boys, and so much more. Let’s check it out.
When it comes to a casual, home-cooked meal, look no further than the Come Back Inn.
Once you place your order at the counter, find a table in their spacious dining room and prepare to feast on some of the most incredible New Orleans cuisine in the area.
They also have several seafood platters to choose from, each one piled sky high with your choice of fried catfish, oysters, shrimp or if you’re really hungry, a combination of both catfish and shrimp.
One of the hidden gems on the menu is the muffuletta. As we all know, this colossal sandwich is pretty big, so you’ll want to bring your appetite. Or maybe a few friends to help finish it off.
If you don’t want a whole muff, no problem. You can get 1/2 a muff (which is still huge) or spice it up with a Submarine, which merges a po’boy with a muffuletta, absolutely delicious!
You’ll also find several hearty dinners that will make you fall in love at first bite, including red beans and rice, spaghetti, and several daily specials like roast beef with mashed potatoes and green beans.
