Sometimes you find something so unique (and so delicious) that you just want to tell the world about it. That’s how we feel about this little hole-in-the-wall eatery over in the Bywater Neighborhood of New Orleans. When you’re in the mood for Chinese food with a Cajun flare, you have to make your way over to Red’s Chinese. And of course, you need to try the cheeseburger fried rice.
You’ll find Red’s Chinese food tucked away on St. Claude in the Bywater. Blink and you’ll miss it, and that would be a shame because this unassuming building is hiding some of the most unique Chinese food in the city.
From the open kitchen to the charming outdoor patio, there’s a lot to love about this spunky little eatery, and that’s all before you even crack open the menu.
Like their craw rangoons. This unique spin on a Chinese classic substitutes crawfish tails for crabmeat. These little fried pockets of heaven are also packed with cream cheese, spicy honey and jalapeños for a sweet heat that’ll kick your taste buds into high gear.
They have several different fried rice dishes, and you’ll want to try them all. Start with their cheeseburger fried rice, which is piled sky high with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickle chips and their special sauce. This is truly a one-of-a-kind mashup you won’t find anywhere else.
