There’s nothing more satisfying than sinking your teeth into a juicy burger cooked to perfection and piled sky high with all of your favorite toppings. Of course, there are countless burger joints peppered throughout the Crescent City that will satisfy your craving, but this nostalgic burger joint in the middle of nowhere is worth the pilgrimage because they’ve got some of the best burgers and shakes near New Orleans. Let’s check it out.
When it comes to burgers, a road trip to Frostop in Laplace is in order.
The old-school drive-in is a nostalgic reminder of the "good old days" for many.
This timeless treasure has been around since 1958, proudly serving the River Parishes with tasty burgers, milkshakes, and of course, amazing root beer.
These homemade onion rings are fried to a golden brown with just the perfect amount of crunch. Go ahead and throw a couple on top of your burger to kick your burger up a notch or two.
They also have several non-burger items on the menu.
Fried shrimp platters, salads, chicken sandwiches and several other staples that you can feast on if you’re not in the mood for a burger. But honestly, if you drove all the way to LaPlace from New Orleans to go to Frostop, you really should be ordering a burger.
You know what goes great with one of their burgers? Their homemade root beer.
This award-winning root beer comes in several varieties and is unlike anything you’ve ever had. The recipe hasn’t changed since the chain opened in 1926, because why mess with a good thing?
Save room for dessert, because their milkshakes make the perfect companion for your ride home.
Choose from the traditional chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla or mix it up with a cherry, pineapple, or wedding cake milkshake. At $3.55 for a large, that’s a steal.
Frostop is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Be sure to follow them on Facebook for more information.
Address: 411 East Airline Highway, LaPlace, LA, 70068
