Tacos are always a good idea. When you’re looking to spice things up and treat yourself to a top-shelf taco with all your favorite sides, a visit to Casa Borrega in New Orleans is in order. This quirky little eatery has some of the most authentic Mexican cuisines in the Crescent City, and you’re going to love every bite. Let’s check it out.
Tucked away in a renovated Greek Rival mansion that dates back to 1892, Casa Borrega might just be the most unique Mexican restaurant in New Orleans.
The quirky and colorful atmosphere is just as bold as the food. During renovations, owners Hugo Montero and Linda Stone wanted to use as many local materials as possible, while also adding elements from their travels to Mexico and Texas.
The menu is full of Mexican specialties and street food that you just don’t find anywhere else in the city. Enchiladas, fajitas, tostadas, and more all pepper the menu.
And of course, some of the tastiest tacos you’ll ever eat. Choose from fish, chicken tinga, ground beef, steak, chorizo, al pastor, carnitas, or vegetables.
Obviously, you’re going to want to have a drink or two while you’re there. Luckily they’ve got over 100 different mezcal options for you to choose from, and they’re known for having one of the best margaritas around, so be sure to order one with your meal.
