Longleaf pine forests once covered nearly 90 million acres across the southeastern part of the country, but today there’s less than 5% remaining. The Nature Conservancy’s mission is to protect these important forests and restore eight million acres by 2025, and there’s one area near New Orleans that they protect that’s perfect for a day trip.
