Some things are worth the extra effort, and the Abita Springs Cafe is one of them. One of the most unique little eateries in St. Tammany Parish, this beloved cafe is worth the drive from New Orleans, especially if you’re a fan of history and delicious food. Let’s take a closer look.
Nestled in the heart of Abita Springs, the Abita Springs Cafe is a local favorite for those on the hunt for a delicious meal in a family-friendly space.
The building was built in 1881 and served as the local butcher shop for nearly 40 years. Over the next 40 years, many businesses came and went before the Abita Springs Cafe moved in 1979.
They feature several specialty benedicts that are truly egg-cellent, including a crab cake benedict with handmade crab cakes and one of their homemade cathead biscuits.
Be sure to order a plate of their sweet potato halos for the table. These sweet potato beignets come with a sinfully delicious butter pecan icing and are so good you may not want to share them.
Burger lovers will especially love the burger section of the menu. Whether you prefer a traditional, old-fashioned burger or a smoked hickory BBQ burger, there’s a burger with your name on it.
