During the long and hot days of summer, you need to find ways to cool down. Luckily there’s an incredible 750-foot lazy river that you can relax in, and it’s right in our own backyard. Located within the Audubon Zoo, the Cool Zoo might just become your new favorite summer hangout. Let’s check it out.
The Audubon Zoo features 53 acres of exotic animals, reptiles, birds, and so much more. Many New Orleanians have grown up visiting this iconic zoo and then come back with their children.
But visiting the zoo in the New Orleans summer heat can be a bit uncomfortable. Luckily, the park’s cool zoo is a great way to beat the heat and have some good old-fashioned family fun.
There are several attractions that make will make the Cool Zoo your new favorite summer spot. From the shaded seating to the toddler splash pad, this fun little water park attracts people of all ages.
Gator Run features two sand beaches, water cannons, water curtains, and jumping jets. The river is only three feet deep, so grab an inflatable tube and sit back and relax while you make a round trip around the river.
You’ll be having so much fun, you’ll probably want to rent a cabana. These cabanas will have you feeling like a VIP as you relax on your own private lounge chairs in the shade.
Admission is $10 per person for members and $12 per person for non-members, and require the purchase of a zoo admission ticket since it’s located within the Audubon Zoo. Zoo/Cool Zoo combination tickets are $29.95 for adults and $24.95 for kids.
