Explore 6 Miles Of Amazing Shopping And Dining On This Historic Street In New Orleans
Whether you’re looking to grab some Christmas presents or just looking to do a little retail therapy, this popular six mile stretch of shopping and dining is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Conveniently located on a historic street in New Orleans, you’re bound to leave with some amazing finds.

Fun fact: there are two theories on how the historic street got its name. One theory suggests the street took its name from an ammunition magazine that was located in the area in the 18th century. Another theory suggests that the street was named after the Spanish word "magazin" or "almazon" which means warehouse. Kentucky native General James Wilkinson journeyed to New Orleans to trade American products with the Spanish, and he convinced Governor Esteban Rodriguez Miro to give Kentucky a monopoly on the Mississippi River trade. This made Wilkinson an official agent, and a warehouse (or "magazin") was built for him to continue his exporting business.
