This 2 Mile Lake Loop Near New Orleans Is The Perfect Hike For A Fall Day
Not far from New Orleans, this delightful little loop track is a perfect hike for a fall day. While the weather is nice, be sure to take advantage of this scenic trail, it just may become your new favorite spot.

The land on which the park sits has an interesting history. It was once a plantation owned by Nicolas Chauvin (who eventually took the name de la Freniere) and also at one point the Jefferson Downs racetrack. The racetrack was in use until 1965 when it was destroyed by Hurricane Betsy and rebuild in another location. This opened the doors for the land to become a public park and named it Lafreniere Park to honor the historical significance of the area.

It runs the parameter of the park, and also has two warm-up areas along the track.
