We love restaurants that have stood the test of time, and we love small-town restaurants. So when we find a restaurant that’s the best of both worlds, we obviously want to share it with our readers. Morvant’s Bar & Grill in Youngsville might seem like quite the unassuming building from first glance, but they’ve got some of the best burgers in Louisiana. Let’s take a closer look.
Youngsville is a small city on the outskirts of Lafayette known for its sugar cane fields and one hidden gem of a restaurant that’s certainly stood the test of time.
Tucked away in the heart of Youngsville, Morvant’s might not look like much from the outside, but we promise — they serve some of the best burgers in Louisiana.
Morvant’s Bar & Grill has been a long-time staple for many generations.
Moise and Gertrude Morvant opened the business in 1924 as a grocery store. It remained the town’s local grocery up until Albert Hebert leased the building and transformed it into a restaurant in the 1970s.

He and his wife began selling homemade hamburgers.
His wife, Effie, made all the burgers from scratch and they quickly became a favorite with locals. In 1992, Elton and Ruby Hebert purchased the building from the Morvants, returned it to its original name, and kept making those delicious burgers with the same recipe.

Now in its third generation, this family-owned and operated business is a family-friendly, casual eatery where you’ll feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
Burgers are served on a regular hamburger bun and dressed with ketchup, mayo, mustard, lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato, and pickles. There's nothing fancy here, just a good old-fashioned burger just like your mom used to make — and it’s delicious.
Morvant’s is open for lunch and dinner six days a week.
