Part of the Cypress Island Preserve, Lake Martin might just be one of the most beautiful natural paradises in Louisiana.
Beginning in late January, thousands of blue herons, great egrets, snowy egrets, cattle egrets, ibis, anhingas, and other species of birds make their way to Lake Martin. March through June is the best time for birdwatchers to see these majestic birds.
And, of course, the lake is home to countless alligators, turtles, snakes, and nutria. A visit to Lake Martin almost guarantees you'll see some wildlife.
